The day before the wedding Indra slept at her parents' house in Herten and Mark slept at his parents' house in Brunssum (about 35 kilometres apart from eachother). At 11 o'clock Mark arrived in their tiny orange/red Fiat500 weddingcar built in 1972. After Mark had admired the looks of his future wife and Indra had admired her future husband's wedding suit they "raced" in their tiny speed monster with a maximum speed of 90 km p/h to the historical white town of Thorn. Together with our good friends Femke & Coen, our photographer and videoman, we took some great shots.

The preparations for our wedding day started about one year ago and we arranged everything with exception of this one thing mankind can't arrange yet... the weather conditions. But like they say in The Netherlands, " you get what you deserve" and we probably did, because in a totally windy and rainy week our wedding day was the only sunny day. After we took some photo and video shots in Thorn we headed for Brunssum's old townhall.

At twenty minutes past two o'clock we arrived in Brunssum and with only about 700 metres to go before arriving at the townhall I stopped the car to attach the flowers to the bonnet of the car. After I attached them I tried to start the engine again but this time it wouldn't start anymore. Probably I played a little too much with the gas pedal so we waited "patiently" for five minutes before leaving a lot of blue smoke behind us and arriving just in time at the old townhall to get married. The ceremony was beautiful and an unexpected number of friends and family joined us in the townhall. After the ceremony we were allowed to stand on the balcony of the townhall and we waved to our friends and family. To be honest we felt like the royal couple waving to their people.

After the ceremony we drove to the "Schinvelderhoeve", an historic farm turned into a party centre. First we ate some weddingcake and drank some champagne to celebrate our wedding. Afterwards we had a small lunch during which we received some presents and Indra's father gave a beautiful speech. We thanked our witnesses at our wedding, Wendy (Mark's sister), Maarten (Indra's brother) and Marianne (Indra's best friend) for agreeing to our marriage... ha! and of course Maarten, who was besides one of our witnesses also our best man, did a more than excellent job. After the small lunch the wedding reception started at 06.30 pm and I'm convinced we will never kiss and shake hands with so many people again in less than two hours. More than two hunderd people came to congratulate us which gave an unforgettable and warm feeling (and of course painful hands and sore lips.... ha! ha!). At eight o'clock the wedding party started with about 120 guests, good food and great live music which was the finishing touch to this already unforgettable day.

At almost 02.00 am the band played their last song "Every Breath you take" from the Police and we danced our last dance. There's only one big disadvantage of such an unforgettable wedding day..... it passes too fast !
